Ringing in the new year at Island Park

We love going to Island Park, it is such a fabulous tradition! You get to get away to a winter wonderland and just enjoy family, good food, and relaxation. I only packed my pajamas and snow
clothes for this trip :) We found this really cute book store/hot cocoa shop in West Yellowstone that we will visit every year from now on.

Christmas

I can't  believe another Christmas has come and gone... I'm having a hard time today, I am feeling pretty sad that the wonderful month of December is over. It is nice to get back on track again with sleep, and daily life, but it kinda stinks at the same time.

This Christmas Eve was a quiet one at our home. We got up that morning and put on some Christmas music, had a nice breakfast, watched Christmas movies,  ran an errand to make sure we were well stocked on egg nog :). The girls have been earning money here and there with little jobs their Nana Lord gave them, and they saved it in a jar. We took them to the store with their jars of money on Christmas eve so they could pic out a gift for each other, they really enjoyed doing that. Then we came home and made candy cane Grinch cookies for Santa. We decided to call them Grinch cookies because I didn't have red food coloring, so we used green (a great mistake in my opinion:) Anyway after we made those, Nana and Grandpa Lord stopped by and played a game or two. Then we ate a very yummy crab and steak dinner with just our little family, Rachel however wanted blueberries and cheese :) Next Nathan and the girls prepared a Nativity play to preform for Livy and I. We then opened up new PJ's and loaded the girls into the car to go see Christmas lights. After seeing some fun lights we came home and put egg nog and cookies out for Santa, read some stories and sang silent night, then tucked our 3 sweet angels into bed. Before Nathan and I went to bed that night we took a roll of crate paper and wrapped across the end of the hallway so the 2 oldest girls could not sneak out of bed.....it totally worked, a new tradition was born!

Christmas day was really wonderful, Nathan got a fire going first thing before the girls came into see what Santa had brought them. We had family over most of the day, we played games and ate, then ate some more and opened gifts. When the last visitor left Nathan and I snuggled up on the couch and watched Christmas Vacation, and had a lot of good laughs.

Unwillingly I must say goodbye Christmas, I really miss you already.....
